About Candase Hokanson
Hi there! My name is Candase Hokanson and I’m a Senior Product Manager here at Seilevel.
A little background about me: I have lived in Texas all of my life- I am originally from a small town outside of Houston called Manvel and I went to school in Alvin, TX (hometown of Nolan Ryan, if there are any baseball fans out there!). I went to Rice University in Houston for both my Bachelors (2010) and Masters (2011).
In a previous life, I was a structural engineer, so I’m interested in how my skills as an engineer transfer to my time as a product manager. I’m also very interested in how our skills as BAs or Product Managers transfer to other aspects of our lives (so look out for those blogs!)
Outside of work, I love to play sports! I have played women’s flag football for 6 years now, and co-ed for 2 of those years. I also play softball and pretty much any other team sport! I am a certified horse-back riding instructor and volunteer some of my weekends teaching young Girl Scouts how to ride. Additionally, I love cooking/baking, reading, traveling and generally having a good time (but really, who doesn’t?).
My silly Q&A:
Q: If you were to be a singer, what kind of music would you sing?
A: Disney music! I'm an avid fan of all things Disney, but especially the music.
Q: If you could live anywhere for one year, all expenses paid, where would you live?
A: I would live in Australia - I love that country and the people there. Not sure what city, Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney are all good choices!
Q: If you could meet anyone from history, who would you meet and why?
A: I would meet Elizabeth I from England. I am obsessed with English history, especially that time period from the War of the Roses through the Stuart reign. During that time frame, personality politics was the order of the day and it would be so interesting to talk to the first successful Queen in her own right of England. When Elizabeth I ascended the throne, so many people thought that a women couldn’t successfully rule without a husband (and they held up her sister, Mary, as proof), but she proved them all wrong! I think we could learn a lot from her…
